Professor Alexander Lorz

Professor Alexander Lorz has been the Hessian Minister of Education and Religious Affairs since January 2014. Prior to this he was the Deputy Secretary at the Hessian Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. From 2007 to 2009 held the position of Deputy Secretary at the Hessian Ministry of Sciences and Art and before this he was a Full Professor at the Heinrich-Heine University of Düsseldorf (Professor for German and Foreign Public Law, International Law and European Law,as well as Dean of the Faculty of Law at Heinrich-Heine University in 2003). He holds a Post-doctoral lecturer qualification for Public Law including International Law, European Law and Philosophy of Law from the University of Mannheim. Prof. Lorz studied at Harvard Law School (Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA), and holds a scholarship of the Haniel Foundation, Master of Laws. He studied Law and Political Economics at the Johannes-Gutenberg University of Mainz and earned scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation.
