Maria De Las Mercedes Miguel
Secretary of State for Innovation and Quality in Education, Argentina
Mercedes Miguel has been the Secretary of Innovation and Quality in Education for the National Ministry of Education in Argentina since December 2015. Previously, she served as the General Director of Education Planning and Innovation of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In this position, she also chaired the city’s Teacher Training School that provides a wide variety of professional development courses for teachers in the education system, to develop innovative teaching practices. Mercedes Miguel is also a member of the Steering Committee of UNESCO 2030 and she represents Argentina in the OECD Education Committee. She studied education for the future at Harvard University and received a scholarship to specialise in New Technologies and Learning in Chile, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. She has also attended courses on education technology in Argentina.
