Marcela Cubillos has been the of Minister of Education since August 2018. In addition to her role as a lawyer she is also a former member of the Parliament of Chile for two terms between 2002 and 2010: both times elected with the first majority in her district. During that time, she was part of the following commissions: Constitution, Legislation and Justice, Environment and Natural Resources and Education, where she played a key role in reform. Minister Cubillos directed the Center for Public Management at Universidad Mayor in Chile. She was also an advisor for Libertad y Desarrollo, a Chilean think-tank, and former Vice-president of the Law School's Student Council. Marcela Cubillos was acknowledged with the Monseñor Carlos Casanueva Award for her outstanding academic performance and commitment to the practice of Law when she graduated from Law School.
