Dominic Savage has spent his whole career within the education industry. He was the Director General of the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) from 1984 until 2016. He founded Bett in 1985 and was the President of Worlddidac for six years. He has been on a variety of UK committees and working groups on education, particularly in relation to new technologies and international trade, and was a member of the UK Government’s International Education Council. He was Chair of TVET UK. He has also served as a member of the ESRC education research grants committee. He is Chair of Governors at a London Technology College and Teaching School and received an OBE in 1997 for services to education. Originally an electronic engineering graduate from the University of Wales, he is an LRAM, a Fellow of the Institute of Association Management, and in 2013 was made an Honorary Fellow of the College of Teachers.
