The LEGO Foundation
The LEGO Foundation shares the mission of the LEGO Group: to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow. The Foundation is dedicated to building a future in which learning through play empowers children to become creative, engaged, lifelong learners. Its work is about re-defining play and re-imagining learning to ensure children build the broad set of skills they need to thrive and succeed.
Children’s development and learning is complex. The LEGO Foundation takes a holistic view and highlights the importance of physical, social, cognitive, creative, and emotional skills and how they interact in a child’s learning. We seek to close the gap between these skills that children, communities, employers, and societies need and how education systems are enabled and empowered to develop them.
We are part of a global movement to broaden the focus of education to meet the growing demand for this breadth of skills that help children thrive and prepare for their future. We believe that focusing on how children learn, not just what they learn, is key to closing the skills gap.
The Foundation’s team of just over 100 people are dedicated to projects, partnerships, and studies that help bring the power of play to children around the world. In collaboration with thought leaders, influencers, educators and parents the LEGO Foundation aims to equip, inspire and activate champions for play.
