British University Vietnam Partners with Kortext
22nd January 2019
The British University Vietnam has selected Kortext to accelerate digitisation of the learning experience and widen access to core digital content.
A signing ceremony has taken place today, Tuesday 22nd January 2019, at Senate House, University of London between the British University Vietnam (BUV) and Kortext Limited (Kortext).
BUV has agreed to partner with Kortext in an institution-wide scheme that combines a world-leading digital content and personal study platform with digital learning content from the world’s leading educational publishers. The project will provide a digital-first learning experience for all BUV’s students by supplying digital content from publishers such as Pearson, Oxford University Press, Taylor & Francis, and Cambridge University Press, amongst others as students study for British degrees. The official launch of the partnership will be in April 2019, when BUV will become the first Higher Education institution in Vietnam, and one of the first in the ASEAN region, to provide its students with digital learning materials only.
Professor Ray Gordon, the Vice-Chancellor and President of BUV, said: “This partnership with Kortext aligns directly with BUV’s positioning and mission. The University is positioned as the University providing learning pathways that shape students for life and work in Vietnam and the region’s emerging digital economy.”
The Chief Academic Officer and Founding Dean of BUV, Christopher Jeffrey, said: “BUV has embarked on an exciting expansion programme and has recently moved to a new “state of the art” EcoPark development campus near Hanoi that was officially opened in September 2018. The prioritisation of the students’ learning experience as they study for their British degree has underpinned this expansion to both attract the top students and to prepare these students for the modern digital workplace and to help them compete on a global basis. It is clear to see that digital delivery of, and access to, digital content would be integral to a modern student’s learning experience. We are delighted to have partnered with Kortext as their world-class digital content and learning platform will benefit every student.”
James Gray, CEO and Founder of Kortext, said “This is a historic day. We are honoured and excited by this opportunity to deliver digital content to all students at BUV which is a first for the country of Vietnam. We see the ASEAN region as being of vital importance to Kortext and we are delighted that BUV has selected Kortext as their partner.”
Ed Vaizey, Trade Envoy to Vietnam and Representative of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said: “I am also delighted to witness this historic signing and it builds on the already strong ties that BUV has with the world-class University of London. Anglo Vietnamese relationships are growing stronger year by year. In education, we have the best education system, the best universities, the best educational publishers and the best Edtech companies. In a post Brexit era, developing and building long term strategic relationships with countries such as Vietnam are vital for the long term future of the UK.”

Founded in 2009, British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to offer world-class authentic British degrees at affordable tuition fees. British higher education has a lot to offer the world, and our objective is to bring the advantages of that high-quality education to Vietnamese young people right here in Vietnam. By working in partnership with our associated universities in the UK in a long term commitment, we are equipping more and more Vietnamese students with a global outlook and the skills necessary to take their place at the forefront of the workforce here in Vietnam as well as globally.
BUV’s new Ecopark campus has officially started operation after the completion of Phase 1 in September 2018. The campus is built on an area of 6.5 ha in Ecopark Township, a multi-phase development of USD 70mil with an investment of over USD 25 million for its first phase to house a population of 2000 students. The new Ecopark campus provides state-of-the-art facilities, including high-capacity lecture theatre with a Lecture Capture system, enabling the university to record the lecture and give students different learning opportunities rather than a traditional classroom setting. It will have sports facilities,
computer lab, hospitality and tourism simulation complex and recreational areas and this will create an active learning environment for students to encourage discovery and researching capability. We look forward to welcoming thousands of students to experience international campus standards by bringing the best of British education to Hanoi.
